1. What is the best way to get to Banff?
Fly directly to Calgary International Airport (YYC) and rent a car or take a shuttle to Banff, which is about a 1.5-2 hour drive. Make sure to look at the Travel Details link on the wedding site for more information.
2. Do I need a visa to travel to Canada?
For UK/Colombian guests: Yes, you may need to apply for a visitor visa or an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for short stays. Please check the Government of Canada website for specific details based on your country of origin.
3. Where is the Couple Staying?
We booked an Air BnB in Canmore as Banff was already booked up for locations big enough for what we needed. Banff is more lively than Canmore depending on what you are looking to do. Canmore is only about 20 mins outside of Banff and a little closer to Calgary Airport. Make sure to look at the Travel Details link on the wedding site for various options that offer a 15% discount code using WEDDING25. (Applicable to most properties outlined in our list of accommodations.)
4. What should I wear to the wedding?
The dress code is semi-formal. Please note that it can get chilly, especially in the evening, so bring a jacket or wrap. The Ceremony and Cocktail Hour will be outside but the Reception and Party will be indoors.
5. Can I extend my trip to explore the Rockies?
Absolutely! Banff is the perfect base to explore the Canadian Rockies. Consider visiting Jasper National Park, Yoho National Park, or taking the Icefields Parkway drive.
6. Are children welcome?
Yes! However, if you’d like a night off, Banff offers professional babysitting services through several companies, below are some to consider.

7. When will we arrive to Banff?
We are planning to get into Banff the Sunday or Monday prior to enjoy some time with our family. Unless you are in the wedding party we would recommend arriving latest Wednesday evening as it can take up to 2 hours from Calgary Airport (YYC) to get to Banff.
8. Why did you pick a Thursday for the wedding?
We picked a Thursday for various personal reasons but we also thought this allows you time to enjoy Banff and the Canadian Rocky Mountains after the wedding.
9. Who do I Contact when I arrive?
Please download Whatsapp as we will create a group chat closer to the wedding once we have our finalized list. This is a free app that works both with iPhone and Android and lets you speak with international numbers via data.
10. What is the CDN Exchange Rate to USD?
The exchange rate is approximately 1 USD = 1.30 CAD meaning that for each US dollar you get around $1.30 CDN dollar. Keep in mind rates do fluctuate so just be mindful and watch the conversion. Banff accepts major credit cards, but for cash, we recommend exchanging currency before arriving or using ATMs in Banff, which offer competitive rates.
11. Can we see the Aurora Borealis aka the Northern Lights?
While the northern lights are active all year, the best time to see them in Banff is from September to early April. September is a great month for viewing the northern lights because there's enough darkness at night to see them. If they are visible is between 10PM and 3AM.
Some good places to view the northern lights near Banff include Lake Minnewanka and Vermilion Lakes. You can sign up for alerts on Aurorawatch.ca, check local Facebook groups, or ask your local hotel concierge
